Condos in Chicago
Condos
in Chicago offer a great place to live, especially for a sport
enthusiast. One of the favorite pastimes of Chicago is to go to
one of the many professional sporting events found in the city.
Chicago has it all when it comes to sports - football, baseball,
basketball, hockey, even professional wrestling. Chicago has some
of the most loyal fans on the planet as well as some historical
sporting venues.
Chicago Illinois is very proud of all of its
teams. The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox are the city's oldest
professional teams. They have both won the World Series multiple
times and even played each other in the series in 1906. The 1906
World Series is the only in professional baseball that two teams
from the same city played for the title.
Wrigley Field stands out as the trademark sporting
ground of the windy city. It has a history as rich as the team
that plays on it. Built in 1914 for the Chicago Whales of the
old Federal League, the park has been the home of the Chicago
Cubs since 1916. It served double duty as the home of the Chicago
Bears from 1921 to 1970. Wrigley
Field is the second oldest ballpark in the US and the only
remaining federal league park still in existence. It is located
in the downtown neighborhood of Lakeview and the locals often
refer to the area surrounding the park as Wrigleyvile. Wrigley
Field is the fourth smallest ball park in the country and the
most heavily used. Because Wrigley Field is so small fans that
can’t get tickets stand outside the park on the streets
waiting for a ball to be hit over the fence to keep as a souvenir.
The Chicago Bears also have spent many years
in Illinois. Starting out in Decatur IL in 1920 as one of the
original teams in the National football League, they moved to
Chicago in 1921. The Bears have won 9 titles including one Super
Bowl. The Bears are also responsible for getting football accepted
as a legitimate sport by working out a deal with Red Grange in
1921. Red was on of the most loved college players of his time
and the first college icon to turn pro.
Chicago is one of the founding cities of one
of the newest sports to hit the United States, wrestling. The
Real professional League was formed in 2002. The term “real”
is used to separate it from its better know counter part. It is
similar to Olympic style wrestling. The Chicago Groove is one
of the first teams to join this league. Time will tell if the
new league will take off but Chicago
Illinois can be proud to have helped pave the way if it does.
It's defiantly a great place to be for a sports fan!
